On the occasion of the 51st UAE National Day 2022 celebrations, we at CIG Dubai wish each and everyone all the very best!
In the UAE, the National Day is celebrated with great zeal and fervour on the 2nd of December every year. Many festivities take place on this day all over the UAE to celebrate the unification of the six Emirates in the Gulf, its historic relevance and honour the masterminds behind the formation of the United Arab Emirates. These festivities help bring people together and boost the spirit of patriotism in them.
History in Brief
For many years before its unification on December 2, 1971, the UAE was occupied by many rival tribal groups. The British entered the scene in 1820, offering protection to the tribes. Many tribes accepted the offer, and Britain took care of them until they left in 1968 because of financial losses. Following this, the rulers of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain, and Al-Ain decided to unite, and on December 2, 1971, they announced their independence and formed the United Arab Emirates or the UAE. Ras al-Khaimah joined the union a little later. The best part of the unification is that it was achieved without any kind of violence!
National Day Celebrations
To mark the occasion, grand celebrations take place across the country. They include fireworks, dance shows, and car rallies. People dress up in the colours of the UAE national flag and decorate their homes, cars, workplaces, and streets as part of the celebrations. Palm trees are decked with coloured lights that represent the national flag’s colours. Hotels, offices, shops, malls, and public sites also display flags and lights. Sports challenges are also organized by some residents to celebrate the national day. The Burj Khalifa also displays the UAE national flag.
Capital International Group joins the National Day 2022 celebrations with the UAE government, and as part of the celebrations, our business centre will remain closed for three days from December 2, 2022.
