Step-by-Step: How to Register a Trademark in Dubai

Step 1: Conduct a Trademark Search
Check if your desired mark is already registered or prohibited in the UAE. This prevents rejection and legal conflicts. Search through the Ministry of Economy's trademark database or consult a licensed trademark agent.
    Step 2: Submit Your Application
Go to the UAE Ministry of Economy portal and navigate to "Trademark Services > Register Trademark". Fill out the form, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee of AED 750.
Step 3: Review by the Ministry
The Ministry will examine your application within 90 days. You will receive either an approval, a request for clarification, or a formal objection if your mark does not meet the criteria.
    Step 4: Trademark Publication
If approved, your trademark will be published in the official trademark bulletin. A fee of AED 750 applies. This allows the public a 30-day window to file any objections.
    Step 5: Objection Handling
If an objection is raised during the 30-day publication period, you must respond within 30 days. The Ministry may request further clarification or hold a formal hearing before making a final decision.
    Step 6: Final Registration
After the objection period ends and your application is fully accepted, pay the final registration fee of AED 5,000. The Ministry will then issue your Trademark Registration Certificate, valid for 10 years.
